The Bio-Pure

The Bio-Pure is a conical shaped tank made of high quality, thick GRP.  The Bio-Pure uses a two stage unit, and therefore consists of an outer chamber (clarifier) and an inner chamber (aeration chamber).

The draft tube is situated 100mm from the base of the clarifier and extends up into the aeration chamber.  The diffuser (within the draft tube) is connected to the air pump, which is housed under the access lid.  The scum board is situated at the top of the clarifier to retain the scum.

The extended aeration method

The Bio-Pure uses the proven and successful extended aeration method so that the solids and liquids are digested and treated.  Treating the solids means that there is no primary settlement tank and therefore the Bio-Pure is odourless.  The sewerage is aerated for a minimum of 24 hours, which achieves near total solids digestion and 96% efficiency.  The Bio-Pure therefore only requires emptying typically every 3-5 years.  The waste water is cleaned to a standard of 20mg/l biological oxygen demand and 30 mg/l suspended solids, which meets the usual discharge level requirement.
